POKOTABI / Bar Sherlock
銀座 barバーシャーロック
Tucked into Ginza 6-chome, Bar Sherlock channels the refined world of the famous detective. Step in from early evening for signature drinks, seasonal fruit cocktails, and thoughtful bar bites.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Look for the "221B" marked on the door, and you will step into an intimate hideaway subtly inspired by the world of Sherlock Holmes. Perched on the 5th floor of a building in Ginza 6-chome, Bar Sherlock retains the poised dignity of an authentic Japanese cocktail bar while maintaining a genuinely warm, welcoming presence.
A natural place to begin is the eponymous house creation, "Sherlock." Built on a foundation of London dry gin laced with Mistia liqueur, green banana syrup, fresh lime juice, and maraschino, it offers a beautifully calibrated harmony of aroma and bright acidity. The repertoire extends to vibrant pours like the tequila-based "Bonita" and precisely chilled classic Martinis, each drink assembled with meticulous attention to detail.
Cocktails highlighting seasonal fresh fruits are another highlight of the menu. Selections such as a Hyuganatsu Martini, a Passion Fruit Daiquiri, or a Kumquat Blossom capture the vivid juiciness and zesty lift of peak produce, making for an appealing, refreshing opening drink.
The food offerings are equally considered. Alongside playful, warming choices like "Mrs. Hudson's Tomato Soup," the kitchen prepares savoury accompaniment such as Kagoshima Kurobuta pork rillettes, homemade raisin butter, and hot toasted sandwiches for heartier cravings, ideal for grazing as you sip.
Doors open at 16:00 from Tuesday through Saturday. Because service begins in the late afternoon, Bar Sherlock is as handy for an aperitif before dinner as it is for a quiet nightcap to conclude the evening. Pull up a stool at the counter, confer with the bartender over your preferences, and let the quiet narrative of the room carry you into the night.
